Sheila Pait is our Teacher of the Year.  She has taught for twenty-six years at East Central Lower Elementary.  Mrs. Pait presently teaches Kindergarten and has been in this position for twenty years.  Prior to moving to Kindergarten, Mrs. Pait taught second and third grades and computer enrichment class for grades K-3.  Mrs. Pait has also served as a mentor teacher for student teachers, Staff Development Coordinator, Grade Chair for Second Grade, Enrichment, and Kindergarten.  She has been a Hospitality Team Member and JCSD Building Equity Member. She received her degree in Elementary Education from William Carey University in Hattiesburg, MS, and has continued to enhance her knowledge with continuing education courses.

Mrs. Pait is married to Michael and has two children.  Her daughter is Jerica Lockhart Bounds and her son is Jameson Lockhart.  She has two granddaughters, Nevaeh and Bailey.  Her step daughter is Amber Pait McNeely and step grandchildren are Shelby, Kloe and Aidyn.  She and Michael enjoy plundering through antique shops and taking road trips during her summer break.

Sheila Pait says that, “Teaching is not a job; it is a privilege.” She knows that each child in her class is a gift from God and considers it her calling to help these young minds and hearts develop into that unique and special person that God created them to be. One of her favorite poems captures the essence of Mrs. Pait’s love for her students.

You’re a very special person
And I wanted you to know,
How much I enjoyed being your teacher,
How fast the year did go!

Please come back to visit me
As through the grades you grow,
Try hard to learn all that you can
There is so much to know!

The one thing I tried to teach you
To last your whole life through,
Is to know that you are special
There is no one else like you!

Mrs. Pait has a genuine love for children.  She understands the limitless possibilities for each child as she hears their laughter and catches the sparkle in their eyes as they learn each new task. Her greatest joy is in her service to God by tending his little lambs.  Her classroom is a safe meadow where every student knows that they are loved just as they are.  She always tries to encourage, motivate and prepare her students in realizing a love for learning that will follow them throughout their lives.  She hopes that the seeds that have been sown in their hearts and minds will blossom and give life to their unique gifts as they grow into those young men and women in whom there is such great potential.

Sheila Pait is honored to represent East Central Lower Elementary as Teacher of the Year.
