The Jackson County Board of Education met in Regular Session on Monday, February 9, 2009, at 5:00 p.m. at the Jackson County Board of Education Building, 4700 Colonel Vickrey Road, Vancleave, Ms 39565

ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS AND CELEBRATIONS: Dr. Barry Amacker read Governor Haley Barbor's Proclamation declaring the week of February 15 - 21 as School Board Recognition Week. Each Attendance Centers thanked the Board and presented each of the Board Members with gift certificates.

Superintendent's Attendance Awards were presented as shown on page 45A.

Mr. Hal Holmes, Assistant Superintendent, Vancleave Attendance Center, introduced Ms. Jill Davis, Vancleave Middle School Principal to acknowledge Coach Regena McMillian and the 8th Grade Girls Basketball Team for a winning season.

Mr. Dino Vecchio, Assistant Superintendent, East Central Attendance Center, introduced Coach Marcus High to acknowledge several athletes for their accomplishments. Mr. James Hughey, Principal, East Central High School, acknowledged two band students and a student that scored the highest in the state on the C-PAS test .

Dr. Amacker recognized Margaret Bush, Assistant Superintendent, Jackson County School District, for the Mississippi State Leadership Award from the National Association of Federal Education Program Administrators.

PURCHASE OF A 2008 VAN FOR ST. MARTIN ATTENDANCE CENTER TECHNOLOGY DEPARTMENT: Motion by Board Member Turner, second by Board Member Dickerson, to approve the purchase a 2008 van for St. Martin Attendance Center, with the following vote taken,

SAFETY INCIDENT AND WORKERS COMPENSATION UPDATE: Laura McCool discussed the safety incidences for the month of January, as shown on page 45B. Ms. McCool presented the board with the most recent information of the workers compensation information and safety report, as shown on page 45C. Ms. McCool also presented the board with the a presentation complied during an on site visit to each school with the Mississippi School Boards Association Workers Comp Trust Representative, as shown on page 45D. No action taken.

OCCUPATIONAL / PHYSICAL THERAPIST SALARY SCALE: Move forward.

NURSE SALARY SCALE: Move forward.

Bus Barn Bid - Mr. Quint Moran, Eley Guild Hardy, suggested that the board approve to award the bid for the bus barn. The PA 10 has not been signed by FEMA. A motion was made by Board Member Turner, second by Board Member Dickerson to award the bid for the bus barn pending the approval of the PA 10 by FEMA, with the following vote taken,
