The Jackson County Board of Education met in Regular Session on Tuesday, December 15, 2009, at 5:00 p.m. at the Jackson County Board of Education Building, 4700 Colonel Vickrey Road, Vancleave, MS 39565.

The meeting was called to order at 5:02 p.m. by Board Chairman Fountain. Board Member Tootle gave the invocation and the Pledge of Allegiance.

APPRECIATION PLAQUE: Board Chairman Kenneth Fountain presented Board Member Thomas Tootle an Appreciation Plaque from the Board.

Board Member Tootle asked to be excused from the remainder of the meeting. Motion made by Board Member Turner, second by Board Member Sims, to excuse Board Member Tootle, with the following vote taken:

CURRICULUM PRESENTATION: Dr. Michael Van Winkle, Assistant Superintendent, St. Martin Attendance Center introduced Dina Holland, Principal, St. Martin High School. Mrs. Holland gave the board a presentation of the incentive programs being used at St. Martin High School.

ACCOUNTABILITY UPDATE: Dr. Lisa McCartney, Curriculum Director, gave the board a presentation on the most recent academic data from the State of Mississippi for the district.

SCHOOL HEALTH COUNCIL PRESENTATION: Lark Christian, Food Service Director, gave the board a presentation on the steps each school is taking to become healthy.

16th SECTION LEASE:

a. Approve Resolution Canceling Lease for Non Payment of Rent - Atwood: Dr. Amacker informed the board that this lease payment was made on December 15, 2009.

b. Approve Resolution Canceling Lease for Non Payment of Rent - Hays: Jack Pickett asked that the board moved this cancellation forward to the January meeting due to extenuating circumstances of the leaseholder. Motion made by Board Member Turner, second by Board Member Dickerson, to move this item to the January 2010 agenda, with the following vote taken:
