Interim Session

The Jackson County Board of Education met in Regular Session on Monday, October 18, 2004, at 5:00 p.m. at Vancleave High School Library, 12424 Highway 57, Vancleave, Mississippi.

The meeting was called to order at 5:05 p.m. by chairman, Kenneth A. Fountain. Board member Owenby gave the invocation, and the Pledge of Allegiance was led by board member Sims.

MINUTES - October 4, 2004: Moved Forward

ACKNOWLEDGMENTS AND CELEBRATIONS: The following individuals, teams, or groups were recognized by administrators for recent achievements and accomplishments and were acknowledged by the Board:

CURRICULUM PRESENTATION - ST. MARTIN HIGH SCHOOL: Chris LeBatard, St. Martin High School Assistant Principal, gave an overview of the Digital Curriculum Program that offers full-length educational videos, key concept video clips, still images, Encyclopaedia content, teacher guides, lesson plans and interactive online assessments and assignment capibility for teachers and students. St. Martin High School students Lauren Shepherd and Ryan Allen spoke about how this program offered assistance with their homework and classroom assignments. Provided by the Mississippi Public Broadcasting System, this system has also helped the students improve their grades in various subjects.

OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY PLAN AND EMPLOYEE SAFETY HANDBOOK: Presented for Board review.

SIXTEENTH SECTION LAND: HORSE ARENA, VANCLEAVE: Moved forward.

SIXTEENTH SECTION - APPROVE APPLICATION TO LEASE - WENDELL LEE/WE PRAY DA, INC. 16-6-7: Motion by Turner, second by Sims, to approve the 16th Section Recreational Lease of Wendell Lee/We Pray Da, Inc., rental fee of $5,032.00, containing 73.8 acres, and located on Section 16, T6S, R7W, with the following vote taken:
