Interim Session

The Jackson County Board of Education met in Interim Session on Monday, September 19, 2005, at 5:00 p.m. at the Jackson County Board of Education Building, 12210 Colonel Vickrey Road,Vancleave, Mississippi.

The meeting was called to order at 5:03 p.m. by chairman, Kenneth A. Fountain. Board member Turner gave the invocation and Board member Owenby led the Pledge.

SIXTEENTH SECTION:

APPROVE COMMERCIAL LEASE CANCELLATION: LAWRENCE AND TERESA ORZALLI: Motion by Tootle, second by Turner to approve cancellation of the Commercial Lease for Lawrence and Teresa Orzalli, as presented, shown on page 52-A, with the following vote taken:

DISCUSSION - 16TH SECTION LAND / FEMA / RHR / KENNETH FOUNTAIN: Rucks Robinson presented to the board the possibility of leasing 16th Section land to FEMA for the placement of trailors. This is with the understanding of not becoming a permanent setting.

Motion by Turner, second by Sims to approve Moody and Assiciates, Inc. to conduct the survey of section 16-7-8 immediately with the following vote taken:

FEMA TRAILERS: An application was presented to the board for staff members to request trailer space on our school campuses. The board directed the St. Martin applicants be responsible for water and sewage through West Jackson County Utilities. The possibility of a flat rate was discussed. East Central Schools and Vancleave Schools own water and sewage systems and there is no way to monitor the usage therefore, the board agreed those services will be provided. The board also directed that each applicant be responsible for their electricity.

RED CROSS: Rucks Robinson advised the board of Red Cross training several employees from each attendance center to handle applications for assistance for all Jackson County School District employees.
