The Jackson County Board of Education met in Regular Session on Monday, September 18, 2006, at 5:00 p.m. at the Jackson County Board of Education Building, 12210 Colonel Vickrey Road, Vancleave, Ms 39565

APPROVE CHANGE ORDER NO.1, RELOCATABLE BUILDINGS FOR ST. MARTIN MIDDLE AND ST. MARTIN UPPER ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS, $33,606.40: Motion by Turner, second by Sims to approve the Change Order No.1, Relocatable Buildings for St. Martin Middle and St. Martin Upper Elementary Schools in the amount of $33,606.40, as shown on page 48-G with the following vote taken:

APPROVE PROPOSAL FOR ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT OF ST. MARTIN 16TH SECTION SITE: Motion by Sims, second by Tootle to approve the Proposal for Environmental Assessment of St. Martin 16th Section Site as shown on page 48-H, with an amendment to the proposal to include the St. Martin High School site as well as the St. Martin Upper Elementary and St. Martin Middle School, with the following vote taken:

The board requested an update of money we have to work with from FEMA and insurance and requested this be presented at the October 16, 2006 board meeting.

Rucks Robinson asked for direction and discussion from the school board regarding the rebuilding and/or replacing of the St. Martin Schools which were destroyed by Hurricane Katrina.

The school board provided direction to the administration:

Motion by Turner, second by Sims to give the administration the priority of focusing on a new St. Martin High School, grades 9-12, for St. Martin in replacement of the damaged schools. Mr. Robinson asked for and received clarification from the board that only money received from FEMA / MEMA and insurance for St. Martin Middle School and St. Martin Upper Elementary will be used for this purpose, with the following vote taken:
