The Jackson County Board of Education met in Regular Session on Monday, September 17, 2007, at 5:00 p.m. at the Jackson County Board of Education Building, 4700 Colonel Vickrey Road, Vancleave, Ms 39565

The meeting was called to order at 5:00 p.m. by chairman, Kenneth A. Fountain. Board member Tootle gave the invocation and Board member Dickerson led the Pledge of Allegiance.

Motion by Turner, second by Dickerson to approve Stewart Sneed Hewes Insurance for Wind Coverage as shown on page 68-C . The coverage is for 50MM with at 3% deductible and MWUA 2 million, with the following vote taken:

APPROVE COMPUTER TECHNICIAN I & II SALARY INCREASE:

Policy: Motion by Sims, second by Turner to approve the recommendation in increase the base pay by $2,000 with the following vote taken:

Supplements: The board recommended the supplement information be brought back before board at the December 10, 2007 board meeting for a motion to be made. The board requested a more detailed combination of certifications that would benefit our school district.

Additional Years of Experience: The board recommended the additional years of experience be submitted to the payroll department and upon verification that information shall be presented on the next board agenda for approval.

c. JRAC - Data Collection Policy & Procedural Guidelines Handbook: Motion by Dickerson, second by Turner to make the following correction to change STI to SIS (Student Identifying System) in this policy as shown on page 68-G, with the following vote taken:

STI UPDATE: Gary Faulkner, STI representative, presented an update to the board on the web based application program that we purchased from STI. Our schools throughout the district experienced different levels of difficulties while using this product. Gary Faulkner presented to the board a refund for the time unused since we have decided to go back to the previous program, Legacy. STI will provide our district re-training at no cost in the future, once their product becomes more suitable for our needs. Gary stated "he and STI will continue to support us and Legacy."

Update on Building Projects / Jennifer Seymour

Jennifer Seymour presented to the board an update on the New St. Martin High School. The building committee is scheduled to have one more meeting. She stated four additional soil borings have been ordered.

Jennifer discussed with the board the width of the hallways for the New St. Martin High School and the board decided that 12 feet hallways will be the standard from this point forward.
