Board Attorney Jack Pickett stated that he had spoken to the Secretary of State's office on this matter. The opinion of the Secretary of State is that the Jackson County Board of Education shall lease the property to the Jackson County Board of Supervisors and enter into an agreement with the county to pay a fee for the use of the facility. The recreation department shall agree on a fee based on the percentage of use by the schools. The facilities will be open to the public other than times reserved by the schools. The recreation department has asked that the process of leasing be expedited to allow the tennis courts to be open and usable by the spring. Mr. Pickett will call the Secretary of State for assistance in this matter and reply to the recreation department by the end of the week.
