The Jackson County Board of Education met in Regular Session on Monday, June 4, 2007, at 5:00 p.m. at the Jackson County Board of Education Building, 12210 Colonel Vickrey Road, Vancleave, Ms 39565

SIXTEENTH SECTION

A. R.T.MAY, IV - Mr. and Mrs. R.T. May, IV spoke to the board regarding concerns about the recent appraisals they received for their 16th Section Leases as shown on page 40-K. The board recommended Mr. Jack Picket, Board Attorney, review appraisals and information provided by Mr. May with Appraiser, Michael Heidelberg as well as conference with Mr. Bill Cheney in the office of the Secretary of State and report back to the Board at the next meeting.

B. (FOR DISCUSSION - POSSIBLE ACTION) - LEGACY FUNERAL PROPERTIES TREE REMOVAL: Motion by Sims, second by Dickerson to move forward to the next board meeting. The board asked Mr. Jack Pickett to research with the Secretary of State Office the options given by Forester, Randy Wilson as shown on page 40-L with the following vote taken:

C. APPROVE TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS ON HUNTING AND FISHING LEASE - FLATWOODS HUNTING CLUB - ELVIS HAVARD: Motion by Dickerson, second by Sims to approve the advertisement for bids on Hunting and Fishing lease - Flatwoods Hunting Club as shown on page 40-M with the addition of advertising in the Clarion Ledger as well as the local newspapers, with the following vote taken:

RESCIND MOTION APPROVAL: Motion by Dickerson, second by Sims to approve the rescinding of a motion made on May 14, 2007 for the approval of the rent adjustment due to lease expiring and reappraisal of land for new lease agreement - Scott Dees due to a request for name change as shown on page 40-M. with the following vote taken:

E. APPROVE RENT ADJUSTMENT DUE TO LEASE EXPIRING AND REAPPRAISAL OF LAND FOR NEW LEASE AGREEMENT - JANE D. TROTTER AND PAULINE D. MONTAGUE: Motion by Tootle, second by Sims to approve the rent adjustment due to lease expiring and reappraisal of land for new lease agreement for Residential Lease, section 16-6-7 for 1.77 acres to Jane D. Trotter and Pauline D. Montague for 5% of the appraisal value totaling $725.00 annually, as shown on page 40-M, with the following vote taken:

UPDATE ON BUILDING PROJECTS: Quint Moran and David Hardy presented an update on the building projects for Vancleave and St. Martin. Committee meetings have begun for the St. Martin High School and quotes for shingles for the Vancleave roofing projects should begin this week.

Motion by Dickerson, second by Sims to approve a resolution to the Jackson County Board of Supervisors requesting their support in seeking funding necessary to pay for the additional cost of compliance with FEMA / MEMA as may be necessary to fund 100% of the hardening cost for the new St. Martin High School, with the following vote taken:
