The Jackson County Board of Education met in Regular Session on Monday, May 15, 2006, at 5:00 p.m. at the Jackson County Board of Education Building, 12210 Colonel Vickrey Road, Vancleave, Ms 39565

NEW POLICY PRESENTED FOR REVIEW - GCRHB: SUMMER HOURS FOR TWELVE MONTH EMPLOYEES (NO ACTION TO BE TAKEN): Presented for board review, as shown on page 13-E

APPROVE 2006 ST. MARTIN SUMMER WORKERS REVISED BUDGET: Motion by Turner, second by Tootle to approve the 2006 St. Martin Summer Workers Revised Budget, as shown on page 13-F, with the following vote taken:

CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS REPORT: As per Mr. Dickerson's request, Mr. Robinson presented a report on all construction projects, as shown on page 13-G. Mr. Dickerson has concerns about the older campus at East Central Middle School and the failure to fund the addition at East Central Middle School as priority 4 on the five year building plan. Rucks Robinson explained that there is not enough money allocated to complete this project. At the present time, as per Mr. Robinson's presentation there is $872,267.19 available in the construction projects account. The board recommended to move forward with suggestions for the East Central Middle School campus.

SALARY COMPARISON: As per Mr. Dickerson's request, Mr. Robinson presented a salary comparison report for neighboring school districts in Jackson County, as shown on page 13-H

STUDIO SOUTH / DAVID HARDY / LEONARD COLLINS / UPDATE:

CONTRACTOR'S REQUEST FOR EXTENSION OF TIME: Due to the lack of motion the Contractor's request for extention of time, as shown on page 13-I, was denied.

APPROVE BID - DEMOLITION OF ST. MARTIN MIDDLE & ST. MARTIN UPPER ELEMENTARY - IKBI, INCORPORATED, $117,850.32: Motion by Turner, second by Dickerson to approve IKBI, Incorporated for the Demolition of St. Martin Middle & St. Martin Upper Elementary for $117,850.32 as shown on page 13-J, with the following vote taken:

APPROVE REPAIRS TO ATHLETIC FACILITIES - BASE BID "A" ELECTRICAL WORK JCSD - HAYNES ELECTRIC, $765,000.00: The repairs to Athletic Facilities - Vase Bid "A" Electrical work came in very high and with only one bidder, Haynes Electric. Recommendation was made by David Hardy to work with Haynes Electric to decrease the cost of this project. The board authorized David Hardy to work with Haynes Electric and report back. The board also authorized Mr. Hal Holmes to work with Mr. Necaise of Singing River Electric to see what services they can provide towards this project.
