SCHOOL BOARD RECOGNITION:February 12-18, 2006, was recognized as being School Board Recognition Week

ACKNOWLEDGMENTS AND CELEBRATIONS: The following individuals, teams and groups were recognized by administrators for recent achievements and accomplishments and were acknowledged by the Board, as shown on page 42-A

ANISSA YOUNG, MSBA INSURANCE PROGRAM MANAGEMENT REPORT (NO ACTION TAKEN): Mr. Jim Lucas stated on February 6, 2006 he met with Anissa Young and they discussed several issues regarding safety incidents. They reviewed all current open and closed claims and discussed the current job description. They discussed the importance and process of safety meetings. Other topics reviewed included the safety handbook being available online and the possiblity of starting new employee orientations. Mr. Lucas also has scheduled Ms. Young to make a presentation during the meetings with principals.

APPROVE TECHNOLOGY PLAN REVISIONS: Motion by Turner, second by Sims to approve the Technology Plan Revisions, as shown on page 42-B, with the following vote taken:

APPROVE NETWORK UPGRADES AND PHONE SERVICES CHANGES: Motion by Sims, second by Dickerson to approve the Network Upgrades and Phone Service Changes, as shown on page 42-C, with the following vote taken:

CARL PEARCE, PROPOSAL TO NAME THE VANCLEAVE GYMNASIUM IN HONOR OF JOHN PRITCHETT (NO ACTION TAKEN): Mr. Carl Pearce presented a proposal to the board to have the Vancleave Middle School Gymnasium named in the honor of John Pritchett, as shown on page 42-D

STEWART, SNEED, HEWES INSURANCE REPRESENTATIVES / UPDATE: Mr. Charles Persons was present to represent Stewart, Sneed, Hewes Insurance Company and gave the board an update. Mr. Persons stated we are "on schedule". He also stated that by April 30, 2006 all wind and flood payments should be paid to the School District and all claims settled. The next meeting Mr. Persons will attend will be our April 3, 2006 board meeting if no changes occur between now and that date.

SIXTEENTH SECTION:

APPROVE RENT ADJUSTMENT DUE TO REAPPRAISAL OF LEASE, JACKSON COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS, EAST CENTRAL SOCCER FIELD: Motion by Sims, second by Tootle to approve the rent at a rate of 5%, with the amount of rent increasing to $2,225.00, due to reappraisal, as shown on page 42-E, with the following vote taken:

JACK PICKETT / REPORT OF ST. MARTIN 16TH SECTION PROPERTY / 16-7-9: Mr. Jack Pickett conducted research of the St. Martin Property Section 16-7-9. Correspondence from William G. Cheney, Jr., Senior Attorney, Public Lands Division, as shown on page 42-F, states that this land has been treated as fee and shows no use or claim by the school district therefore, the mentioned land is not part of 16th Section Public School Trust.

APPROVE RESOLUTION: 16TH SECTION PROPERTY, SECTION 16, TOWNSHIP 7 SOUTH, RANGE 9 WEST:Motion by Turner, second by Sims to approve the resolution for 16th Section Property - Section 16, Township 7 South, Range 9 West, as shown on page 42-G, with the following vote taken:

Motion by Sims, second by Tootle to approve Rucks H. Robinson, Superintendent to authorize the destruction and disposal of the structure on the Beck property if no bids are received once we have advertised for the minimual amount of time, with the following vote taken:

STUDIO SOUTH / DAVID HARDY / LEONARD COLLINS / UPDATE:

Motion by Turner, second by Sims to approve the St. Martin Upper Elementary and St. Martin Middle School canopies contingent upon FEMA's approval for the sum of $48,304.00, as shown on page 42-I, with the following vote taken:

Mr. Leonard Collins stated that the St. Martin East Elementary Cafeteria will be ready to serve meals by March 1, 2006. There will be weekly meeting held with the contractors working on the St. Martin North Elementary Cafeteria and it will be around 5 weeks before completion. Updates are shown on page 42-J

St. Martin East Elementary School and St. Martin North Elementary School updates are shown on page 42-K

Motion by Sims, second by Turner to approve St. Martin East Elementary Sidewalk as shown on page 42-L, with the following vote taken:

Mr. Leonard Collins stated that the contractor at Vancleave Lower Elementary School is close to finishing the block work. They are past the February 9, 2006 completion date but are making progress. A final completion date has not been set.

The Vancleave Middle School Gymnasium updates are shown on page 42-M, with a completion date set for August 12, 2006.

FUTURE BUILDING PLANS / KATRINA / UPDATE: Mr. Leonard Collins gave an update on St. Martin East Elementary, St. Martin North Elementary, Vancleave Lower Elementary and Vancleave Middle School projects.
