The Jackson County Board of Education met in Regular Session on Monday, January 7, 2008, at 5:00 p.m. at the Jackson County Board of Education Building, 4700 Colonel Vickrey Road, Vancleave, Mississippi

The meeting was called to order at 5:00 p.m. by chairman, Kenneth A. Fountain. Board member Turner gave the invocation and Board member Tootle led the Pledge of Allegiance.

SWEARING IN OF SUPERINTENDENT ELECT DR. BARRY AMACKER: Superintendenet elect Dr. Barry Amacker was sworn in as Superintendent by the Honorable Judge Sharon Sigalas.

SWEARING IN OF BOARD MEMBER ELECT KENNETH FOUNTAIN AND RANDAL TURNER: Board member elect Kenneth Fountain and Randal Turner was sworn in as Board Members by the Honorable Judge Sharon Sigalas.

ELECTION OF OFFICERS - 2008:

Motion by Turner, second by Tootle to nominate Kenneth A. Fountain as Chairman. The vote was unanimous 5-0 to elect Mr. Fountain as Chariman, with the following vote taken:

Mr. Wood reported that the slab removal for St. Martin Upper and Middle had been approved with the exception of three slabs, pending receipt of a letter indicating what our intentions are for the use of the property. Dr. Amacker reported a committee meeting was being planned to discuss our options.

HVAC Preventive Maintenance & Repairs Contract

Motion by Turner, second by Tootle to approve a one year contract with the option to renew another year if the board is satisfied with the performance of The Service Company during the first year. It was noted that the cost of $3500.00 per cooling tower could be incurred. As shown on page 73-H, with the following vote taken:

Update on Building Projects / Jennifer Seymour

Jennifer Seymour presented information on the site for the bus/maintenance facility. It was determined that there are sufficient uplands in the original site option #4, as previously approved on November 15, 2007. Guild Hardy was to proceed with the survey and to bring it back to the board for a vote. As shown on page 73-J.
