The Jackson County Board of Education met in Interim Session on Monday, October 24, 2005, at 5:00 p.m. at the Jackson County Board of Education Building, 12210 Colonel Vickrey Road, Vancleave, Mississippi.

The meeting was called to order at 5:00 p.m. by chairman, Kenneth A. Fountain. Board member Turner gave the invocation and Board member Sims led the Pledge.

APPROVE REVISIONS TO 2005-2006 SCHOOL CALENDAR: Motion by Sims, second by Owenby to approve the revisions to the 2005-2006 school calendar as shown on page 73-B, with the following vote taken:

SIXTEENTH SECTION:

APPROVE AND AWARD HUNTING AND FISHING LEASE - 16-4-8 (621.11 ACRES) - JONES-WILSON HUNTING LODGE, INC.: Motion by Turner, second by Owenby to approve and award the bid for Hunting and Fishing, bid # 06-07 sixteenth section lease 16-4-8, 621.11 acres more or less to the same leaseholder, Jones-Wilson Hunting Lodge, Inc. They have agreed to match the highest bidder with an annual lease payment of $4,347.77. Bid tabulation sheet shown on page 73-C, with the following vote taken:

APPROVE AND AWARD HUNTING AND FISHING LEASE - 16-6-5 (581.30 ACRES) - KEITH HARRISON: Motion by Turner, second by Owenby to approve and award the bid for Hunting and Fishing, bid # 06-29 sixteenth section lease 16-6-5, 581.30 acres more or less, Keith Harrison. This was the only bid submitted. The annual lease payment is $1,802.03. Bid tabulation sheet shown on page 73-C, with the following vote taken:

FEMA LEASE / MR. CHENEY / DISCUSSION RE: FIRE STATION LEASE: The Board discussed the St. Martin Fire Station Lease. The St. Martin displaced residents are to have the first priority and at the end of the lease the General Services Administration are to be responsible for removing the travel trailors and/or occupants.

APPROVAL OF ADDENDUM AS SUGGESTED BY MR. CHENEY: Motion by Owenby, second by Turner to approve an addendum to the St. Martin Fire Station lease as suggested by Mr. Cheney with the following things to be included; Ensuring that St. Martin displaced residents have the first priority, and after the 18 month lease is over, having an answer on who will take care of the trailors and property, with the following vote taken:

It was also discussed that this area is currently under lease with the Jackson County Board of Supervisors. Motion by Turner, second by Sims to cancel the current lease until all housing issues have been taken care of and then return the lease to its present state, with the following vote taken:
