The Jackson County Board of Education met in Regular Session on Monday, March 14, 2005, at 5:00 p.m. at the Jackson County Board of Education Building, 12210 Colonel Vickrey Road,Vancleave, Mississippi.

The meeting was called to order at 5:00 p.m. by chairman, Kenneth A. Fountain. Board member Tootle gave the invocation and Board member Owenby led the Pledge.

ACKNOWLEDGMENTS AND CELEBRATIONS: The following individuals, teams, or groups were recognized by administrators for recent achievements and accomplishments and were acknowledged by the Board, as shown on page 84-A

CURRICULUM PRESENTATION - ST. MARTIN - Kim Aflague, Tammy Hill and Betsy Ellis, St. Martin High School Counselors, presented a powerpoint presentation overviewing their computer counseling program. Scholarship information and school news are continually being updated for parents, students and staff. Website, daily bullentins, newsletter to parents, posters and fliers are some of the tools used for information updates.

DISTRICT SAFETY: Jim Lucas presented the Incident and Investigation reports for board review, as shown on page 84-B

FAST FORWARD PRESENTATIONS: East Central Upper Elementary and Vancleave Middle School teachers presented a powerpoint presentation overviewing FastForward. The FastForward computer based program assist students during stages of language and reading. The students follow protocols for each program with the teacher as their monitor. This program builds fundamental skills such as memory and attention. Teachers play a crucial role by offering praise for behavior, participation and performance.

NEW POLICY PRESENTED FOR REVIEW: IHFE EARLY GRADUATION POLICY: Presented for board review as shown on page 84-D

COMPTON ENGINEERING - AARON MASTERS: Motion by Owenby, second by Toodle to proceed with the following projects: St. Martin East Elementary sewer lift station, St. Martin Middle School sewer lift station and Vancleave Upper Elementary water well. The projected expenses as per Aaron Masters are: St. Martin East Elementary $65,650.00, St. Martin Middle School $44,200.00, and Vancleave Upper Elementary $300,300.00,as shown on page 84-E with the following vote taken:

ST. MARTIN HIGH SCHOOL - WATER SYSTEM / WEST JACKSON COUNTY UTILITIES: (No action taken) Move Forward, as shown on page 84-F

PURCHASE OF AIR AERATOR, VANCLEAVE SEWAGE LAGGON - NIB: Motion by Owenby, second by Turner to move forward to include the purchase of air aerator to be made part of the Not in Budget figure, as shown on page 84-G, with the following vote taken:
