Dear Parents,
Doors will be opened at 6:45 each morning. Students are not
to be dropped off and left at the front or back door prior to
that time.
Please drop off children in the back of the building. Parents
need to park in the parking lot if they want to walk their child
to the lobby. Parents are not to drop children off at the front
door.
Always be aware of children and drive slowly. The speed limit
for our campus, including the side roads and the back road is
5 miles per hour.
A car placard is required when your child will be a car rider.
Even if your child is only going to be a car rider for the first
few days of school, a placard is required.
One placard will be given to you and additional placards may
be purchased for 25¢.
This placard is to be held up so that it is visible to the staff
on afternoon car duty.
If you do not have a placard, you are not to get in line to
drive around to the pick-up area. You will need to park in the
front parking lot and come in to the office to sign your child
out. Your child will be brought to the office at 2:30 p.m. For
the safety of all students and our staff, we will not call for
students to be checked out from the car rider line.
Please refer to the handbook for additional information on students
arriving and departing.
Never pass a bus or pass a bus that is unloading unless you
are specifically directed by staff.
If your child is going to be a car rider to school, have them
on campus by 7:05. This gives them enough time to unload their
backpack, sharpen their pencil, go to the restroom, and prepare
for the day. If your child will be a car rider to school and
will be eating breakfast in the cafeteria, they need to be on
campus by 6:45 but no later than 7:00. Car rider children will
not be able to eat breakfast if they arrive after 7:00.
Parents who walk their child into the building are asked to
drop their child off at the lobby rather than walking them to
class.
The tardy bells rings at 7:20 and teachers begin instruction
at that time. If your child is not in his room ready to work
at 7:20, he will be counted tardy. While we understand that
students may occasionally be tardy, excessive tardies might
possibly have a negative impact on your child’s education
due to missing instruction. Please try to have your child on
campus every day by 7:05.
At Vancleave Lower Elementary, we are dedicated to maintaining
a safe, secure, and educationally sound environment for the
students and staff. Therefore, to ensure safety and an atmosphere
conducive to teaching and learning, all visitors must report
to the office of the school principal before visiting any part
of the campus.
We need and are thankful for your help and your support to
make this a successful year. When home and school work together,
every child can have success.
Sincerely,
Amy Peterson, Principal
