QUIZ BOWL

	Our St. Martin Quiz Bowl team defeated Harrison Central in Round 1 play; both A and B teams competed with other local high schools in answering questions for winning rounds. Brian Torries was our high scorer, and others competing on both teams are Sydney Waits, Torey Krause, Cruz Vargas, Rachel Thone, Rachel Picard, and Tyler Brown. Our final meet of the season will be on Monday, March 8 at Harrison Central High School. Members need to arrive by 4:10 to play. The Yellow Jacket Quiz Bowl team 2010 includes the following members: Torey Krause, Tyler Brown, Sydney Waits, Derek Van Vinkle, Bryan Hoang, Jasmin Scott, Hien Huynh, Rachel Thone, and Rachel Picard. These members must attend every meet and work in co-hosting with another school during the season in order to be eligible for the district/state competitions later in the spring. Weekly practices will be announced in the Daily Buzz for the team to improve knowledge and buzzer reaction times. Family and friends are welcome to attend the meets to support our St. Martin team. Our members will appreciate your efforts.

	Our St. Martin Quiz Bowl team participates in the Gulf Coast Quiz Bowl organization every year. It is a fun, competitive environment where students from different schools set aside petty rivalries to compete in the battle of the brains. The questions posed are based on high school curriculum as well as pop culture, sports, and politics. A love of knowledge, dedication, and an eager spirit are traits the quiz bowl members must possess. Who will buzz in first with the correct response? Who can nail the bonus questions for more points? Who will win? This excitement occurs from January through April, and the season concludes with a state meet.
