Due to Hurricane Katrina, all students in the devastated area are allowed to eat free for breakfast and lunch through November 30, 2005. On December 1, 2005, all students will eat depending on their category of eligibility. The Food Service Department will continue to distribute and process Free/Reduced applications during October and November to allow us to feed students correctly after November 30, 2005. Any family that has lost their home due to the hurricane should complete an application as "homeless". Verification for classification as "homeless" will be collected from the school district's Homeless Coordinator by the Food Service Department. Any family that has lost their source of income should complete an application and list income as 0. This will allow the family to eat free temporarily through February 24, 2006. Separate menus have been planned for the St. Martin Schools to enable meal service to six schools from only two cafeteria preparation sites. St. Martin East and St. Martin North Elementary meals will continue to be satellited from St. Martin High School. St. Martin High 8-9 will serve breakfast and lunch to St. Martin High students and then serve lunch and an afternoon snack to St. Martin Upper students. St. Martin High 10-12 will serve breakfast and lunch to St. Martin High students and then serve lunch and an afternoon snack to St. Martin Middle students. We appreciate your understanding and patience as we strive to serve students a hot nutritious meal in a timely manner. Please feel free to contact our department if we can be of any assistance in completing a Free/Reduced Application or if you have a comment or concern. 826-1757, ext. 310 Lark Christian, Food Service Director |
