Hurricane
Katrina Coverage - JCSD "Rising"
Together,
we will continue to "press on" toward higher standards even after
Hurricane Katrina.

What was normally thought of as "high ground" on St. Martin campuses to park buses and maintenance vehicles during coastal storms was not the case with Hurricane Katrina. Twenty-nine (29) buses were lost due to the severe tidal wave that devastated much of the St. Martin community. Many neighboring school districts have loaned us buses to transport our St. Martin students. Briar
Glen Elementary School students
spearheaded a drive to pruchase a replacement school bus for fellow
students in Mississipi affected by Hurricane Katrina. On Thursday,
October 13, the Jackson County School District is scheduled to take
possession of the bus donated by the Briar Glen community. |
