PROFILE & HISTORY
PROFILEEast Central High School, one of seven public and two private high schools in Jackson County, maintains an average enrollment of 750-875 students. The school has 49 full-time teachers, one full-time media specialist, one career center technician, three full-time SPED aids, two academic counselors, and two full-time administrators. Teachers with advanced degrees make up 34.6 percent of the school's staff, a percentage that far exceeds the state and district averages.
HISTORY In 1959 Hurley
and Wade Schools consolidated to become East Central Schools. The Wade School
mascot, "Hornet," was adopted as the East Central mascot and school colors of
maroon and white were chosen. The first senior class of ECHS graduated 33 students.
Today, East Central High School graduates more than 200 students per year.
